Flea and Worm Treatment
Flea and worm treatments for cats and dogs in NZ. Shop Bravecto, NexGard Spectra, Advocate, Simparica Trio, Frontline and more — monthly and long-acting options, no prescription needed.
Fleas and worms are a year-round concern for New Zealand pets. Our mild climate keeps flea populations active well beyond summer, and intestinal worms can be picked up by both cats and dogs regardless of how much time they spend outdoors. Regular preventative treatment is the simplest way to keep your pet protected — and most modern treatments cover both in a single monthly or 3-monthly dose.
At PetSupply we stock the full range of vet-recommended flea and worm treatments available in NZ, including Bravecto, NexGard Spectra, Advocate, Simparica Trio, Frontline Plus, Revolution Plus and more. No prescription is needed for any product in our range.

All-in-One vs Separate Treatments
All-in-one (recommended for most owners): Products like NexGard Spectra (dogs) and Bravecto Plus or NexGard Spectra for Cats cover fleas, ticks, and intestinal worms in a single treatment. More convenient, fewer missed treatments, and often cheaper than buying separately.
Separate treatments: Some owners use a flea-only product (like Bravecto chew every 3 months) combined with a separate allwormer (like Drontal every 3 months). This gives flexibility but requires managing two schedules.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the best flea and worm treatment for cats in NZ?
Bravecto Plus is the most convenient — a single spot-on every 2–3 months covers fleas, ticks, roundworm, tapeworm, and heartworm. For monthly treatment, NexGard Spectra for Cats provides the same comprehensive coverage.
Can I use the same flea treatment for both my dog and cat?
No. Dog flea treatments often contain permethrin, which is toxic to cats. Always use a product specifically labelled for the species you're treating. Never apply dog flea treatment to a cat.
How often should I worm my pet?
For most adult dogs and cats, every 3 months is the recommended minimum. Pets that hunt, scavenge, or are frequently around livestock should be treated more often. Puppies and kittens should be wormed monthly until 6 months of age.
Is Advocate flea and worm treatment good?
Advocate is an excellent spot-on covering fleas, roundworm, hookworm, whipworm (dogs), and heartworm. It doesn't cover tapeworm, so owners with hunting pets may prefer to combine it with a tapeworm treatment or choose NexGard Spectra which covers tapeworm as well.
