Bravecto Flea Treatment

Bravecto is one of New Zealand's most trusted flea and tick treatments, used by thousands of pet owners and recommended by vets nationwide. What sets Bravecto apart is its duration — while most treatments require monthly application, Bravecto protects for 3 months with a single dose. For cats, Bravecto Plus extends that coverage to include intestinal worms and heartworm as well. For dogs, Bravecto is available as an oral chew or spot-on, with options covering dogs from 2kg up to 56kg.

All Bravecto products in our range are available without a prescription in New Zealand.

Which Bravecto is right for my pet?

For cats — Bravecto Plus is the most comprehensive option, covering fleas, ticks, roundworm, tapeworm, and heartworm in a single spot-on every 3 months. If you already use a separate wormer and only need flea and tick cover, Bravecto Spot-on for Cats is the alternative.

For dogs — chew or spot-on? Both the Bravecto chew and Bravecto spot-on provide 3 months of flea and tick protection. The chew is popular with dog owners who find spot-ons messy or whose dogs swim frequently. The spot-on suits dogs that resist taking tablets. Neither covers intestinal worms — pair with a separate allwormer like Drontal if full coverage is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Bravecto last?

All Bravecto products provide 3 months of protection from a single dose — compared to monthly treatments this means only 4 treatments per year instead of 12.

Is Bravecto safe for cats?

Yes. Bravecto Plus and Bravecto Spot-on for Cats are specifically formulated for cats and are approved for use in NZ. Never use dog Bravecto products on cats — the dog chew contains fluralaner at a different concentration and is not labelled for cats.

Does Bravecto cover worms?

Bravecto Plus for cats covers roundworm, tapeworm, and heartworm in addition to fleas and ticks. The Bravecto dog products (chew and spot-on) cover fleas and ticks only — a separate allwormer is needed for dogs requiring worm coverage.

Do I need a prescription for Bravecto in NZ?

No. All Bravecto products in our range are available without a prescription in New Zealand.

Can I use Bravecto on puppies and kittens?

Bravecto chew for dogs is approved from 8 weeks of age and a minimum weight of 2kg. Bravecto Plus for cats is approved from 9 weeks and 1.2kg. Always check the product label before treating young animals.
